ControlPanel7

The ControlPanel7

Bridging the gap in HMI between pushbuttons and videowalls.

The ControlPanel7 is a 7 inch smart HMI panel with a fieldbus interface providing:

  • Plug and play setup
  • Fast and easy configuration
  • State of the art responsiveness

With the intergration of EtherCAT P, only one cable is needed to provide the ControlPanel7 both from power and communication, which simplifies the installation. With the EtherCAT P out port, other devices such as a second or third ControlPanel7 or remote I/O can be connected.

Techspecs

The ControlPanel7 uses a powerfull system on a chip to provide fast screen and fieldbus updates. This SoC intergrates both the dual core application procossor and a smaller standalone coprocessor. The coprocessor is only used to handle the fieldbus interface, thus avoiding the integration of realtime communication in the application which benifits stability and performance.

Beside the advanced processors the ControlPanel7 packs other useful features such as the RFID reader. With this reader the integrator can enable access control with normal RFID tags. The authication can be done locally on the ControlPanel7 or remote.

Flexible graphical engine

The graphical engine is based on Qt Quick enviroment. This framework provides a very performant hardware accelerated graphical interface. With the simple declarative language called QML, very complex UIs can be made in no time.

To aid the integrator even more, the ControlPanel7 contains a library of most common controls. These controls can be used to create HMI screens without a single line of code. The integrated configuration software aids the programmer with the job.

IO and Connections

The EtherCAT P connectors provide both power and communication to the ControlPanel7.

With the USB type C connection, the ControlPanel7 can be used as an USB device, for configuration when connected to a PC. Also it can be used as an USB host to extend the functionality even more. The ControlPanel7 supports the following USB devices: HID, CDC and mass storage devices. For example USB barcode readers, keyboards and joystick controllers.

The two 4-pin M8 connects have both two combined inputs and outputs. This IO can be accessed over dedicated bits in the process image or via the application software. As an example these can be used to control a signal lamp or an electric lock.
